Piotr Wasylczyk przekona nas do swojego zdania – “Life’s a pitch” – i \u017ce wcale nie jest to takie trudne. O \u017cyciu b\u0119dzie ma\u0142o, du\u017co natomiast o przygotowywaniu ciekawych i efektywnych prezentacji naukowych, w szczeg\u00f3lno\u015bci bardzo kr\u00f3tkich (z angielskiego tytu\u0142owy pitch<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Sylwetka m\u00f3wcy i abstrakt wyst\u0105pienia dost\u0119pne s\u0105 poni\u017cej w j. angielskim. Zapraszamy 8 maja na 17:30 do sali B2.38 na Wydziale Fizyki UW, a po spotkaniu na \u0107wiczenie w\u0142asnych kr\u00f3tkich prezentacji w lokalnym pubie. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

You have probably heard a hundred times that life can be this or that, and generally it’s hard. On our next meeting, dr hab. Piotr Wasylczyk will try and convince you that actually life is a… pitch.
\nAnd although he won’t tell you how to deal with your life, he will surely teach you how to prepare good pitches – short presentations – and improve your scientific presentation skills in general.<\/p>\n

Everyone is invited! The topic is relevant for numerous fields of science, so even if you are not familiar with optics or photonics, you still can find something interesting.<\/p>\n

We meet on 8th of May at 17:30h in room B2.38 at Faculty of Physics, and after the meeting we are going to practice our own pitches at a local pub. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

About the speaker:
\nPiotr Wasylczyk is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw and Research Associate in the Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London. He studied (mainly physics) in Warsaw, Uppsala and Amsterdam, and worked (mainly as a physicist) in Oxford and Florence. His current research interests include light-driven (micro)robotics and micro-engineering for medical interventions. He teaches effective communication in and outside academia in Poland and in the UK.<\/p>\n

\nA significant number (if not most) of scientific presentations are hard to understand, full of incomprehensible data and simply boring. Very short presentations – pitches – are among the most difficult to prepare and handle well.
